Character

Character

Character Counts is a national program that works to infuse schools, governments and agencies with its “six pillars of character” — trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Florence Haridan is the executive director. She’s amazing from the inside out. Her energy and hope has allowed her to expanded her gift of compassion to create an entrepreneurial enterprise for Character Counts that recycles or revives disposable things — food, material and people — called Conscious Eats.

I’m almost sure, Florence probably doesn’t know what a gift and inspiration she is to so many of us. But this blog isn’t about Florence, it is about what she plants in us.

The other day, we had a truly unexpected moment hit us. But when I read this line from Character Counts, I knew all would be fine. Because we live by that saying …Character is who you are when no one is looking. We strongly feel one should be more concerned with their character than their reputation. Because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. And believe me, we care.

In closing, we hope you agree.
